More than 35 years ago, following the traditions of German inventors, Hans Schanz developed a bold and novel technology for a roll shutter. His invention, the “Studio Star” roll shutter was able to follow the shapes of a multitude of window types. Within a few years, Schanz became the national market leader for asymmetrically shaped roll shutters.
During the 90s, a second generation Schanz family started to actively work, shaping the company’s future. Joe Schanz expanded the American subsidiary of Alutech and developed the North American market. Today, he is the President of Alutech United Inc. with a special focus on roll shutters for hurricane protection and security.
Years of research and development at Alutech have led to one of the most versatile product lines of shutters in North America. “Barracuda,” a shutter system for security and storm protection, and the “Studio Star,” a roll shutter for all window shapes, are examples of the products now distributed and installed by factory trained dealers across the country.
Since 1993, General Manager George Pfaller has led Alutech to become the most respected and leading hurricane and security shutter manufacturer in the industry. Through his leadership and dedication, with help from very dedicated and diverse employees, Alutech has grown from two employees to a staff of over 30 employees today. The company prides itself on delivering the highest quality products, excellent customer service, as well as continuing a commitment to developing new products for the shutter industry.
